We have a robot! 
Well, not any kind of robot, but an IoT-controlled 2WD tank with threaded tracks.

The Amazing Lab is becoming part of our department’s favourite places to get things done. Just the way we intended for it to be.

Did we tell you this is the week of the “Queima das Fitas”? These are brave souls, indeed…

Our first workshop was a success! We learned how to build a simple IoT device, how to provision and program it and to bridge it with an MQTT broker.

Still, no stuff was burned. Definitely we should improve that part…

Also, a big “thank you” to the department’s students nuclei for their help and support!

On this day we were visited by a group of 48 students and accompanying teachers from the Escola Secundária Emídio Navarro. They came from Viseu just to visit us and know a little bit more about the department and the Amazing Lab.

We were visited by a wonderful group of students and teachers from the Escola Secundária D. Maria. João Afonso, an ex-student of ours and good friend of the Amazing Lab was among the teachers. What could we wish more?

Well, we may need. Eventually. 
But we can do it on the cheap with a pencil and two pieces of paper. Don’t believe us?

The Amazing Lab is supporting the SANS – Sensing and Actuation Networks and Systems course of the Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science and Engineering. We are providing hardware, as well as an suitable environment for course activities.

What does it happen when you mix an ADXL375 accelerometer, an ESP8266 and an MQTT broker? Just add some physics and maths knowledge into the mix, and the results can be quite interesting!
